Trek in the Park – Journey to Babel

Another reason why we love Portland is the arts. Case in point, this summer’s season of Trek in the Park. It was a nice sunny day to be outside in the beautiful Cathedral Bridge Park to watch the show. It was a bit too hot, but the breeze kept things cool. Jasmine used the umbrella to create a pocket of shade.

Emily and I were both surprised about the huge crowd – and they were really enthusiastic. I didn’t know there were so many Trekkies here – or at least fans of ‘free’ theater.

The performance was a blast, awesome sound effects, lots of good Bones and Spock humor, and even some fist fights. They had an encore of an abbreviated version of “The Trouble With Tribbles”. At one point they threw like 100 stuffed animal ‘tribbles’ onto the stage.

Glee Dance Class Finale

I hope you enjoy these photos and videos from Jasmine’s ‘Glee’ dance class finale. I think she had a good time.

They learned four routines and a variety of hip-hop, jazz and ballet techniques.

Tiny Dances

Today was the Tiny Dances festival at the Beaverton Farmer’s market. We watched Native American, belly-dancing, modern, and Indian (as in the continent) performances.

More Presents

Lucky for Jasmine that her birthday tends to last a long time. What with boxes arriving from Grandma Karen and Great Grandparents Glenna and Walter. Here are some photos of Jasmine opening up these fun gifts…

(Note to grandparents – we are ‘mean’ parents and that even though the boxes arrive early – we make her wait and wait before opening them. We are to blame for wanting her birthday festivities to last a long time.)
