Our city had a series of community parties this month. This one was at Jasmine’s future middle school. I thought it was a good opportunity to check it out – and to enjoy a free dinner.

5th Grade Graduation
I attended Jasmine’s 5th grade graduation.
Several students gave speeches, the whole student body sang songs, and each child got to take the walk to pick up a certificate. A nice event.
Time to say goodby to elementary school and hello to middle school.
Jeff’s Birthday
I choose the Cheesecake Factory for my birthday outing. Mainly because I love their guacamole. This time we also tried their cheesecake – not impressed.
Grand Floral Parade
Another weekend, another parade – Portland’s special Rose Festival Grand Floral. And this time staring Jasmine and Destiny riding the route in the lead car for the Navy. I’m sure that made our nation proud. It certainly made us parents happy.
Starlight Parade 2014
We headed off to the PGE/Solv Starlight parade – along with Destiny.
First: we did a pre-loop of the parade route riding in the Solv truck waving our signs – while folks handed out trash bags.
Second: Jasmine, Destiny, and I sat in the bleachers to enjoy the parade – while Emily worked (she is employed by Solv).
Third: Jasmine and Destiny rode with Larry the Lighbulb PGE mascot to close out the parade. The trash bags handed out earlier were collected. And the street sweepers cleaned up the rest.
It was nice to see Portland’s ‘Clean and Green’ movement in action.
And the parade was awesome!
