New Indian Restaurant

At the recommendation of our neighbor, we tried a new restaurant this evening: Swagat Indian Cuisine. The verdict is we like it. Very homey atmosphere – literally a home converted to a dinning experience. Lots of nice cherry wood colors.

We are use to buffet style with Indian Cuisine, so having to choose one dish was a bit overwhelming. The waitress made some recommendation which were good ones. While looking over the menu we saw this awesome salad being served to the table next to us. So we ordered that as well. It was delicious with a mild lemon and cumin type dressing and lots of cut veggies. Jasmine ate most of it on her own and finished her meal with Mango pudding.

Everything was really good and we decided we needed to come back for lunch and try the buffet.

Ice cream

Since we had a lite dinner, a good hearty dessert was in order. I’ll admit, Stone Cold Creamery is not my first place for ice cream. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good ice cream, but too buttery creamy. Still, I remembered that they had birthday cake flavor and was pleased to see they still carried it. Jasmine got chocolate of course. Jeff mooched. And Jasmine didn’t disappoint with a massive chocolate mustache. She may be fours years older now but she still digs into her ice cream.

Food Aventure – Fireside Grill

We were looking for a new place to eat. So Jeff looked through his supply of coupons and settled on “BJ Willy’s Wood Fire Pizza and Pub”. Wood fire pizza sounded pretty good. We ignored the “BJ Willy’s” part. I mean, seriously…

It had a nice ambiance, lots of windows and the outside view was especially nice. Jeff loved his clams and mussels spicy dish, with a nice garlic bread. Jasmine tried her first clam and as you can see from the video, I think it will be awhile before she tries it again.

As for the rest of the meal — soggy salad and run of the mill tenders. We of course also got the fire grilled pizza, which sounded a lot better than it was. I think they stoked the fire a little too much as half of it was burnt. And it was ridiculously overpriced. Maybe being from the East coast and visiting New York quite a bit I have standards, but how difficult can it be to make a decent slice of pizza? And if you have ‘pizza’ in the name of your restaurant, you might want to put a little effort in creating them. But I digress….

Later on, when telling a friend about the place she commented that they are known for their macaroni and cheese dish. I recall seeing more than one table had mac and cheese on it. Maybe change the name?

Dinner with Friends

We had dinner with our friends Kristen and Mac and the kids. For some unfathomable reason known only to her, Jasmine wore her pjs. Maybe she just wanted to get ahead of her night-time routine.

It was pizza night. I brought the fixings for a spinach and artichoke salad. The kids got a pepperoni pizza. The adult got much more adventurous with pesto, yellow peppers, calamari olives and mushrooms. Oh yeah it was good!
